THIS IS THE NIGHT

In union with the rest of the Catholic world we began our 'Mother of all Vigils' at 8:30pm. We gathered first of all outside the church to bless the Paschal Candle and to light it from the New Fire. From there we processed into the darkened church to sing the praises of the Risen Christ in the words of the Exsultet:

Accept this Easter Candle,

fashioned from the work of bees,

a flame divided but undimmed,

a pillar of fire that glows to the honour of God.
